Mathew Shepard was a young gay man who was beaten mercilessly and left to die. He was tied to a fence where he suffered for hour after hour. A passer-by thought he was a scarecrow at first. Mathew was rushed to the hospital where he died. He had been attending the University of Wyoming in Laramie.
About Judith Redman
Judy Redman, 10/04/1946 - 12/18/2022, died at 76, still painting! This site will be maintained by her friend of 35 years, Lenore Senior (FAA artist). This painting is so powerful! For those of us who know the story of what happened to Mathew Shepard, I knew immediately what this painting was about without the title and although your painting approach has been greatly abstracted. This painting grabs me and won't let go.

Hello Judith... The painting creates a very sad and solemn mood, relieved in part by the contrasting warmer colours and the energy of the brushwork, very nice balance... Chris R
